The Cory Catfish: a Excellent Addition to Your Aquarium
If you have an interest in aquariums and keeping various types of fish, one fish that you might want to consider adding to your tank is the cory catfish. This particular fish is a very peaceful species and is easily incorporated in a community tank. While you will find these fish are very amenable to virtually any tank situation, it’s important to remember that they like to swim in numbers so you need to make sure that you have no less than three of these catfish in your tank at all times.
Another benefit to having cory catfish in your tank is that they are bottom feeders. The benefit to having bottom feeders in your general tank is that they are very effective in helping the tank bottom to be free of rotting scraps of food. This helps the appearance of your tank as well as promotes an overall good quality to the water in your tank. Not only is this beneficial to the appearance of your tank but it is beneficial to the other fish that call your tank home.
If it’s breeding of the cory catfish that you are interested in, you’ll be very pleased to know that these fish are extremely easy to breed. In fact, all that you will really need to concern yourself with is maintaining proper water conditions. This is basically the only thing that will keep this catfish from breeding. It is worth noting, however, that in order to breed these catfish you will need to have at least two males and several different female fish as well. However, having a larger number of these catfish in your aquarium, given their very peaceful nature, will not be an issue with the other fish that occupy your tank.
Not only are these small cory catfish nice to look at, they do very well for the health of your aquarium. They are easy to manage and do not cause any problems as to how they interact with other peaceful community fish.
